Finally after so many simple eid milad-un-Nabi passed 2009 was different. Specially for the locality i lived in. Yes Township. I remmeber in my child hood we used to collect money and decorate our street but from the last decade nothing was happening. But this year young boys of our locality took the challange and here can see how was the experinece
Attack on Srilankan Team in Lahore, FoolProof Security?
3 March 2009, A day i will never forget a very sad incident for Pakistan and i should say for sub-contenant.12 terrorist managed to get in the Heart of Pakistan, Lahore, and heart of Lahore, Liberty, with AK-47, grenades, rock launchers and bombs and launch massive attack on Srilankan cricket team which was escort by Army Commando trained police called Elliete Force. Most important the terrorist managed to walk away from the incidents, sorry to use the word Walk away as CCTV footage showed us that terrorists are liter lay walking away.
I am not security expert but after looking the footage and listening the reviews from differenct media persons, police and security experts i have come up with few important security measures which should be taken.
1. Home Work – Whenever foreign country cricket team came to pakistan they have been provided security. will govt followed that standards, i think not. govet officials are continuesly claiming that all sensitive areas are covered if yes then Liberty area was the most sensitive area why it was not covered? with fact that Gulberg and Garden Town police station is very near to that incident.
2. Pilot Traffic Riders – My sympathy with these guys as they are just traffic wardens not highly trained for such combat situation. At least they should be provided with Bullet Proof jacket and gun man with loaded AK-47.
3. Where the incident happens is the open area and it is surrounded with tall buildings and plazas, what if security officials placed snipers on these buildings. I am saying that as one of Camera man of a news channel said that if he got the gun at that time he could take two of terrorists.
4. The Escort elite force are not provided with bullet proof jackets but i can not blame them at all as it was really sudden for them to take heavy AK-47 gun fire in open from all sides.
5. The Bus which is carrying srilankan team has one bullet proof window and another which is infront of the driver is not bullet proof What kind of economical strategy was that to built such bus. In my opinion the window infront of the driver must be bullet proof so atleast he can escape the bus from the incident which he bravely done anyway but some srilankan players were injured because bullets pierce through that non bullet proof glass. bus driver should also be provided with bullet proof jacket and he should be trained combat officer.
6. Police claimed that they have CCTV camera in place is that camera are connected to central security office with live broadcast as terrorists spent 40 minutes there and no backup were sent to that place.
why security measures were not taken when security officals of Lahore and punjab are well informed about this attack in january 2009.
this is not only cricket events which are now a history in pakistan but every business related to other countries are affected.

Sharif brothers declared ineligible, Shahbaz no more Punjab CM

ISLAMABAD: The three-member Bench of Supreme Court has disposed off Sharif brothers’ electoral eligibility case by declaring them ineligible for contesting elections in its two-line short order announced here.
Shahbaz Sharif under this verdict has lost his seat in the provincial assembly and being no longer member of the Punjab House, he is no more Punjab chief minister, as SC has annulled the earlier notification about his being chief minister.
This case was under hearing of the SC three-member Bench headed by Justice Musa K. Laghari for the last eight months, in which, the Attorney General of Pakistan, Latif Khosa giving his arguments said that Punjab chief secretary and speaker were not the party in the case. Attorney General said that all the judges have taken oaths under the constitution and talking about the oath of the interim constitution was irrelevant.
He said that Nawaz Sharif’s proposer and seconder could become parties in the case if the court permits them and their becoming parties was not necessary. He further said that it was the discretion of the judge to withdraw from the Bench and no one could direct him to pull out.
On conclusion of the arguments, after a short break, the Bench disposing off the Sharif brothers’ eligibility case declared them ineligible.
Following the verdict, Sharif brothers’ lawyer, Akram Sheikh told media that the decision was as expected, as the government was giving dictation to the judges. He said that Sharif brothers were declared ineligible on the orders of President Zardari. He said that the judges would be made accountable on the Day of Judgement. Akram Shiekh said that now it was up to the people to decide if the verdict was on merit. He said that he couldn’t comment on the incomplete two-line judgment. This decision would be presented as bouquet to President Asif Zardari on his return from the China tour.
ML-N workers in sizable number were present on the occasion of the announcement of verdict raising slogans in favour of long march and Sharif brothers. Security arrangement remain tightened in the capital city here.
